Refrigerant Cycle Heat Pump – Step by Step
Cooling Mode (Like an AC)
Compressor: Pressurizes cold vapor → becomes hot, high-pressure gas.
Condenser (Outside): Releases heat to the air → gas turns into liquid.
Expansion Valve: Drops pressure → refrigerant becomes cold mist.
Evaporator (Inside): Absorbs heat from the house → refrigerant turns to gas.
Cycle Repeats: Heat gets moved out of the house to keep it cool.
Heating Mode
Compressor: Pressurizes cold vapor → becomes hot, high-pressure gas.
Condenser (Now Inside): Releases heat into the house → gas becomes liquid.
Expansion Valve: Drops pressure → refrigerant cools down.
Evaporator (Now Outside): Absorbs heat from outdoor air, even in cold weather.
Cycle Repeats: Heat gets moved into the house to warm it up.
